Find My Dehumidifier: a free dehumidifier size calculator for UAE homes, and how it decides
The short answer
Find My Dehumidifier takes two quick steps. First, your room type and size. Second, what you are noticing and whether you want air purification built in. It works out the room volume, treats bedrooms as rooms where quiet matters, and matches you to a model rated for your space, with its limits and an alternative. It uses written rules, so the same answers always give the same result.
Why we built a selector instead of a product list
Most people buy a dehumidifier by picking the one with the biggest number or the lowest price. In UAE homes that goes wrong in predictable ways: a unit too small for an open-plan room, one too loud for a bedroom, or one bought for mold that is really coming from a leaking AC drain.
Find My Dehumidifier asks the questions we would ask if we were standing in your home, in the same order, and gives you a straight answer. Try it here.
The two steps
| Step | What it asks | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Your space | Room type and floor area (or length × width, or a rough size) | Sets the volume of air to treat. Bedrooms get the quietest suitable model. |
| 2. What you need | What you are noticing: damp air, condensation, laundry, musty smell, visible mold. And whether you want air purification built in. | Matches the problem, and points you to a model with a HEPA filter if you want cleaner air too. |
| Your recommendation | A match, the reasons, the limits and an alternative | So you can see why, not just what |
How it sizes a dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers are rated for a maximum room size, and the most reliable comparison is by volume, not floor area alone. The selector calculates:
Room volume (m³) = floor area (m²) × ceiling height (m)
The selector assumes a standard UAE ceiling of 2.7 m. If your room is taller or double height, there is more air to treat, so consider the next size up.
It then compares your volume with each model's rated maximum and prefers a model where your room uses no more than about three-quarters of the rating. That headroom matters in the UAE, where humid outdoor air keeps leaking in and a unit working at its limit runs loud and long.
| Model | Rated capacity | Rated room size | Noise | Filter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Theo | 10 L/day | Up to 40 m² / 100 m³ | 42 dB(A) | None |
| Albert | 20 L/day | Up to 70 m² / 175 m³ | 33–44 dB(A) | None |
| Lukas | 20 L/day | Up to 70 m² / 175 m³ | 38–52 dB(A) | Optional HEPA H11 |
| Lukas Pro | 50 L/day | Up to 175 m² / 435 m³ | 38–55 dB(A) | HEPA H11 included |
Manufacturer ratings from Stadler Form UAE, checked 20 October 2026. Stadler Form states rated performance from about 22 °C and 70% relative humidity.
Worked examples
| Room | Volume | What the selector does |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom, 4 × 4 m | about 43 m³ | Treats it as a quiet room. Suggests Albert (33–44 dB(A), night mode), with Theo as the compact alternative. |
| Walk-in wardrobe, 2.5 × 2 m | about 14 m³ | Suggests Theo, the compact 10 L unit, with Albert as the alternative. |
| Open-plan living, 70 m² | about 189 m³ | Suggests Lukas Pro. The 20 L models are rated up to 175 m³, just under this space. |
| Living room, 30 m², wants air purification | about 81 m³ | Suggests a model with a HEPA filter: Lukas Pro (included) or Lukas (optional filter). |
| Whole villa, 200 m² | about 540 m³ | Says no single portable unit is rated for this. Suggests zoning, starting with the worst room, or a ducted solution. |
Examples follow the selector's rules and Stadler Form UAE ratings, checked 20 October 2026.
Before you buy: two quick checks
- Is there a leak? A dripping AC unit, a wet wall or recent water damage needs fixing first. A dehumidifier cannot stop water coming in. See after rain, a leak or a flood.
- Is it really humidity? If you are not sure, a week of readings with a basic hygrometer costs little. See should you measure first.
And if your space is larger than any portable unit is rated for, the selector tells you so and suggests treating it room by room.
What your result includes
- The recommended model and why it fits your room.
- Its limits for your situation, for example several closed rooms or a space near its rated maximum.
- An alternative, and a side-by-side spec comparison.
- A link to the product on Stadler Form UAE.
- An option to send your answers to our team if you want a second opinion.
What it does not do
- It is not a site survey. Real results depend on your room, how often doors open and how the AC runs.
- Ratings are the manufacturer's, measured under test conditions, not our own measurements.
- It currently recommends Stadler Form models only.
- For indoor pools, see our indoor pool guide. A pool hall needs a dedicated system.
If your situation does not fit a questionnaire, email our team with your room size, what you are seeing and a photo. We will tell you what we would check first.
Frequently asked questions
Is Find My Dehumidifier free?
Yes. It takes two quick steps, runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and shows the result on screen.
How does it work out what size dehumidifier I need?
It multiplies floor area by a standard 2.7 m ceiling height to get the room volume, then compares it with each model's rated maximum, preferring a model where your room uses no more than about three-quarters of the rating.
Do I need a humidity reading?
No. The selector works from your room size and what you are noticing. If you are not sure humidity is the cause, a few days of readings with a basic hygrometer will confirm it.
Can it recommend a dehumidifier with an air purifier?
Yes. Answer yes to air purification in step 2 and it suggests a model with a HEPA filter, such as Lukas Pro.
Does it work for a whole villa?
One portable unit cannot treat a whole villa. The selector will suggest treating the worst rooms one by one, or a ducted solution for the whole home.
Which brands does it recommend?
Stadler Form models only, at the moment. It is the brand our HawaQ indoor air quality team uses for dehumidification, and for dehumidification with air purification, in client homes.
