Tank or drain hose: which suits the way you live?
The short answer
A tank is the simplest option and works anywhere, but you have to empty it. A drain hose removes that job, as long as the unit can sit near a floor drain or sink lower than its outlet. Every Stadler Form model we recommend comes with a drain hose, so you can start with the tank and switch later.
Tank size and hose length by model
| Model | Water tank | Drain hose in the box |
|---|---|---|
| Theo | 2.1 L | 100 cm |
| Albert | 4.6 L, with carrying handle | 200 cm |
| Lukas | 4.2 L | 100 cm |
| Lukas Pro | 5.2 L | 100 cm |
Manufacturer specifications from Stadler Form UAE, checked 20 October 2026. Stadler Form lists automatic switch-off when the tank is full for Albert, Lukas and Lukas Pro.
When the tank is enough
- A bedroom, wardrobe or small room with a mild problem.
- You are home most days and don't mind emptying it.
- You want to move the unit between rooms.
When a drain hose makes sense
- Laundry rooms and spaces where you dry clothes indoors.
- Large or very humid spaces, where the tank fills quickly.
- Homes left empty while you travel, so the unit doesn't stop when the tank is full.
- Drying out a room after a leak or flood.
Before you connect the hose
- Check the drain sits lower than the unit's outlet. Water runs downhill, not up.
- Measure the distance. The hose in the box is 100 or 200 cm depending on the model.
- Keep the hose free of kinks and loops so water doesn't sit in it.
- Route it where nobody will trip over it.
Frequently asked questions
How often will I need to empty a dehumidifier tank?
It depends on how humid the room is and the tank size. Humid rooms, laundry and drying-out jobs fill tanks fastest. If you are emptying it every day, a drain hose is worth it.
Can a dehumidifier drain into a sink?
Yes, if the sink or drain is lower than the unit's outlet so water can flow down the hose.
