Lukas vs Lukas Pro: which Stadler Form dehumidifier suits your villa, apartment, hotel or storage room?
The short answer
Stadler Form Lukas Pro removes up to 50 litres a day and is rated for dehumidifying large spaces up to 175 m², such as villa living areas. It also purifies the air with its included H11 particle filter. Lukas removes up to 20 litres a day in rooms up to 70 m² and purifies only with its optional H11 filter.
What is the difference between Lukas and Lukas Pro?
Stadler Form Lukas Pro removes up to 50 litres of moisture a day and is rated for dehumidifying up to 175 m² (435 m³), while Lukas removes up to 20 litres a day and is rated for 70 m² (175 m³). Lukas Pro also comes with an H11 particle filter, which Lukas takes only as an option (Lukas Smart includes it).
Both are Stadler Form compressor dehumidifiers that use the same app and share the main placement rules: at least 3 m from a pool, bath or shower, more than 50 cm from walls, never inside a closet, and 5 to 35 °C. Lukas Pro adds a purify-only mode and a particle sensor with an air-quality light, and needs a bigger minimum room (7.2 m² against 4 m²). The litres per day are maxima, reached only from about 22 °C and 70% relative humidity, so both remove less in a cool, air-conditioned room.
All figures below are Stadler Form’s. HawaQ, the team behind this site, supplies both models; our disclosure is at the end of this guide.

Lukas or Lukas Pro: which fits a villa, apartment, hotel, storage room or pool house?
Choose by the closed space the unit will stand in: Lukas for a room or small flat up to 70 m² (175 m³), Lukas Pro for a large room, open-plan zone or storage area up to 175 m² (435 m³), and one unit per closed room or zone. As Stadler Form UAE notes, the unit dries the space it stands in, and closed doors divide a home into separate rooms.
| Space | Pick | Why | How many / note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Villa open-plan living area or majlis | Lukas Pro | Large connected space | One per zone; size high ceilings by volume |
| Villa bedroom, dressing room or office | Lukas | Rooms up to 70 m² | One per closed room, never inside a closet |
| Studio or one-bedroom flat | Lukas | Often within 70 m² | One unit; a closed bedroom is a separate space |
| Larger flat or open-plan living | Lukas Pro (Lukas in closed bedrooms) | Living areas can pass 70 m² | One per zone, guided by readings |
| Hotel guest room or suite | Lukas (Lukas Pro over 175 m³) | Sized for one room or suite | Check 38 to 52 dB(A) where guests sleep |
| Hotel linen, luggage and dry stores | Lukas Pro | Larger back-of-house rooms | One per closed room, on the hose |
| Home storeroom | Lukas | Up to 175 m³ of air | Drain hose; at least 4 m² of floor, 50 cm from walls and shelves |
| Large storage room or archive | Lukas Pro | Up to 435 m³ of air | One per closed room, doors closed |
| Warehouse zone (enclosed, air-conditioned) | Lukas Pro | About 72 m² per unit under a 6 m ceiling | Several units, zoned, on continuous drainage, doors closed; not open halls or above 35 °C |
| Pool house, changing room or gym | Lukas (Lukas Pro for a large pool house) | Rooms around a pool | At least 3 m from the pool and any shower; never the pool hall |

When should you choose Lukas Pro over Lukas?
Choose Stadler Form Lukas Pro when a closed room or zone holds more than 175 m³ of air (over 70 m² under a 2.5 m ceiling), or when you want an H11 particle filter in the box. Lukas Pro removes up to 50 litres of moisture a day and is rated for dehumidifying large rooms and spaces up to 175 m² (435 m³), such as open-plan villa living areas, large apartments, hotel spaces, storage areas and enclosed, air-conditioned warehouse zones.
That rating assumes a ceiling of about 2.5 m. Under a 3 m ceiling the same 435 m³ is about 145 m², so size tall rooms and stores by volume. Lukas Pro is a dehumidifier and air purifier in one unit, though its purifier covers less floor area than its dehumidifier, as explained below.
- Villas: open-plan living and dining areas, a majlis, or a ground floor that is one connected space.
- Apartments: larger flats, penthouses and open-plan living areas.
- Hotels: large suites and back-of-house linen, luggage and dry stores.
- Storage areas: storerooms, archives and laundry rooms, on the drain hose.
- Warehouses: enclosed, air-conditioned storage rooms and zones only, one unit per 435 m³, on continuous drainage, doors closed.
It adds a 5.2 L tank, a particle sensor, a purify-only mode and a 5-year Pro Series warranty. The trade-offs are 18.0 kg of weight, a top sound level of 55 dB(A) and a minimum room size of 7.2 m². See the Stadler Form Lukas Pro product page.
When is Lukas the right choice? Rooms up to 70 m²
Choose Stadler Form Lukas for a room or space up to 70 m² (175 m³), such as a villa bedroom or dressing room, a smaller apartment, a hotel suite or a room beside a pool. It is a 20-litre-a-day dehumidifier with Wi-Fi app control.
Lukas becomes a dehumidifier and air purifier in one with its optional H11 particle filter (Lukas Smart includes it). Under a 3 m ceiling its 175 m³ covers about 58 m²; a larger or double-height space needs Lukas Pro.
- Villas: bedrooms, dressing rooms, a home office, laundry or staff room.
- Apartments: studios, one- and two-bedroom flats, or a master bedroom.
- Hotels: a single guest room, suite or serviced apartment up to 70 m².
- Pools: the changing room, gym or pool-house storage, at least 3 m from the pool and any shower.
Lukas has a 4.2 L tank, a top sound level of 52 dB(A) and a 2-year warranty. The Lukas design won Gold at the IDA Design Awards 2024, and Lukas Titanium is the same unit in titanium grey. See the Stadler Form Lukas product page.
Which one purifies the air: Lukas or Lukas Pro?
Lukas Pro purifies the air straight out of the box with its included H11 particle filter, while Lukas becomes a dehumidifier and air purifier in one only with its optional H11 particle filter (Lukas Smart includes it). Lukas Pro’s purifier covers less space than its dehumidifier, and Stadler Form publishes no air-change rate for Lukas, so treat both as dehumidifiers that also filter the air.
Lukas Pro. Lukas Pro comes with an H11 particle filter and can dehumidify and purify at the same time, or purify on its own. Its clean air delivery rate of up to 327 m³/h changes the air about three times an hour in a room of up to 44 m², or once an hour in up to 131 m², so its purifier coverage is smaller than its 175 m² dehumidifying rating.
Lukas. With the filter fitted, Lukas cleans the air it draws in while it dehumidifies. It has no air-quality sensor, and Stadler Form documents no purify-only mode for it.
H11, not HEPA. Under EN 1822, an H11 filter captures at least 95% of the hardest-to-catch particle size. Current editions call that class E11 (EPA) and keep the name HEPA for H13 and H14, so we say H11 particle filter. Neither filter has activated carbon, so neither unit is designed to remove smells. Filters are replaced about every 12 months and do not swap between models.
If dust is the main problem and humidity is fine, a dedicated air purifier usually moves more air. See dehumidifier vs air purifier, and when a 2-in-1 makes sense.
How much floor area do Lukas and Lukas Pro cover under a high ceiling?
Size by volume, not floor area: one Lukas covers up to 175 m³ of air and one Lukas Pro up to 435 m³, so divide those figures by your ceiling height to find the floor area each unit can serve.
Stadler Form advises working from room volume and says makers usually assume a 2.5 m ceiling. The table rounds down; these are our worked figures, not Stadler Form ratings.
| Ceiling height | Lukas (175 m³) | Lukas Pro (435 m³) |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 m | 70 m² | 174 m² (rated 175 m²) |
| 3.0 m | 58 m² | 145 m² |
| 3.5 m | 50 m² | 124 m² |
| 4.5 m | 38 m² | 96 m² |
| 6.0 m | 29 m² | 72 m² |
The rule: floor area per unit = rated volume ÷ ceiling height.
Hypothetical examples. A 12 m by 10 m majlis (120 m²) with a 4.5 m ceiling holds 540 m³, more than one Lukas Pro’s 435 m³, so plan two units or two zones. A 6 m by 5 m villa storeroom (30 m²) with a 3 m ceiling holds 90 m³, well within one Lukas’s 175 m³. Both rooms are made up to show the arithmetic.
Volume sets how much air one unit can serve, not how fast it dries it. Read what a 20 L/day rating means in an air-conditioned room before you compare litres. For any other room, our dehumidifier size calculator guide for UAE homes explains how to size by volume.
What should you check before choosing Lukas or Lukas Pro?
Before choosing between Lukas and Lukas Pro, check eight things: a humidity reading, the room volume against 175 m³ or 435 m³, closed doors, drainage, noise, temperature, the filter and the warranty.
- Measure humidity first. The US EPA advises keeping indoor humidity below 60%, ideally 30 to 50%. See how to take a useful humidity reading.
- Work out the volume. Length × width × ceiling height, against 175 m³ for Lukas or 435 m³ for Lukas Pro.
- Count closed rooms. Keep doors and windows closed while it runs, with one unit per closed room or zone.
- Tank or hose. The tanks hold 4.2 L (Lukas) and 5.2 L (Lukas Pro), and the unit stops when full. Both include a 100 cm gravity drain hose, so the drain must sit lower than the outlet. See tank or drain hose.
- Noise where people sleep. Lukas runs at 38 to 52 dB(A), Lukas Pro at 38 to 55 dB(A). For a bedroom, Stadler Form Albert starts lower, at 33 to 44 dB(A); see noise levels for bedrooms.
- Temperature. Both run from 5 to 35 °C. A storeroom or warehouse without AC can pass 35 °C in a UAE summer.
- Filter. If dust matters too, Lukas Pro includes the H11 filter; for Lukas, add the optional filter or choose Lukas Smart.
- Warranty and Wi-Fi. Lukas Pro carries a 5-year Pro Series warranty and Lukas a 2-year warranty, both serviced by Stadler Form UAE in Dubai. Both need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
At the power input Stadler Form lists for 26.7 °C and 60% RH, eight hours of running uses about 4.4 kWh for Lukas Pro (545 W) and about 2.1 kWh for Lukas (260 W). The draw rises in hotter, wetter air (Stadler Form’s rated power is 735 W for Lukas Pro at 35 °C and 80% RH, and 330 W for Lukas at 35 °C and 90% RH) and falls when the compressor pauses at the target humidity.
Where should you not use Lukas or Lukas Pro?
Do not use either model in a pool hall, within 3 m of a pool, bath or shower, inside a closet, in an open warehouse hall, or anywhere hotter than 35 °C.
- Pools. Place Lukas in the rooms around a pool, such as changing rooms, a gym or pool-house storage, at least 3 m from the pool and any shower, as Stadler Form’s manual requires; the pool hall itself needs a purpose-built pool dehumidification system. See indoor pool humidity in UAE villas.
- Warehouses. In a warehouse, Lukas Pro suits enclosed, air-conditioned storage rooms, sized room by room on continuous drainage. Stadler Form rates the unit to run only up to 35 °C. Open halls, loading docks and high-bay halls need a system engineered for the building, usually an industrial one. HawaQ’s guide to humidity control in UAE warehouses and storage rooms covers measuring and zoning.
- Closets and small rooms. Never run either unit inside a closet; the manuals warn it may cause a fire. Keep Lukas out of rooms under 4 m² and Lukas Pro out of rooms under 7.2 m², and leave more than 50 cm to walls.
Stadler Form’s manuals describe both models as household appliances for indoor use; for hotel, storage or warehouse projects, Stadler Form UAE confirms suitability project by project.
What evidence is there from UAE homes and hotels?
Two published sources describe UAE projects with Lukas Pro in homes and hotels: HawaQ’s work in more than 50 Dubai waterfront homes, and Stadler Form UAE’s hotel projects. We know of no published hotel project that used Lukas.
Waterfront homes. HawaQ monitored more than 50 waterfront homes on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, JBR and La Mer for a month each, mapped humidity room by room, then specified Lukas Pro sized to each space where the data showed a need. It reports humidity problems fixed in more than 50 homes, publishes no client names or before-and-after readings, and notes that for single bedrooms or smaller apartments Lukas is often enough. Read the HawaQ waterfront homes case study.
Hotels. Stadler Form UAE reports a Dubai resort project with twelve Lukas Pro units where relative humidity fell from 79% to 51%. This is Stadler Form UAE’s own report as the brand’s UAE distributor, not HawaQ monitoring work, and HawaQ supplies Stadler Form, as our disclosure below explains. See Stadler Form UAE’s hotel dehumidifier case studies.
We have not run our own side-by-side test; the specifications here are Stadler Form’s.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lukas Pro worth it over Lukas?
Only if your space needs it. Lukas Pro is worth it for a closed room or zone with more than 175 m³ of air (over 70 m² under a 2.5 m ceiling, or about 58 m² under 3 m), a large storeroom, an enclosed, air-conditioned warehouse zone, or when you want the included H11 particle filter with a purify-only mode and a 5-year warranty. For a single room within 175 m³, Lukas is usually enough.
Does Lukas come with a filter?
The standard Lukas does not. It ships with a drain hose and accepts an optional H11 particle filter. Stadler Form UAE sells Lukas Smart, which is Lukas with that filter in the box. Lukas Pro includes its own larger H11 filter, and the two do not swap.
Will a 20 L Lukas or a 50 L Lukas Pro do a whole villa?
Not on its own. Lukas is rated for one room or space up to 70 m² (175 m³) and Lukas Pro for one connected space up to 175 m² (435 m³), and each dries the space it stands in. Closed doors split a villa into separate rooms, so plan Lukas Pro for each large open-plan zone and Lukas for closed rooms of up to 175 m³.
Can Lukas or Lukas Pro go in a pool house or changing room?
Yes, in the rooms around a pool, never in the pool hall itself. Stadler Form’s manual says to keep the unit at least 3 m from a pool, bath or shower. Use Lukas in a changing room, gym or pool-house storage of up to 70 m² (175 m³), and Lukas Pro in a larger pool-house lounge. The pool hall needs a purpose-built pool dehumidification system; see indoor pool humidity in UAE villas.
Which suits a storage room or warehouse zone, Lukas or Lukas Pro?
Lukas suits a home storeroom of up to 175 m³ of air. Lukas Pro suits a larger storage room or an enclosed, air-conditioned warehouse zone of up to 435 m³ per unit, on continuous drainage with doors kept closed. Open warehouse halls, loading docks and spaces above 35 °C need a system engineered for the building, and Stadler Form UAE confirms suitability project by project. HawaQ covers measuring and zoning in its guide to storage room and warehouse humidity in the UAE.
Which is quieter, Lukas or Lukas Pro?
Lukas, slightly. Stadler Form lists Lukas at 38 to 52 dB(A) and Lukas Pro at 38 to 55 dB(A), so both start at the same level and Lukas Pro is louder at its top fan speed. Albert starts lower, at 33 to 44 dB(A).
What warranty do Lukas and Lukas Pro have?
Lukas Pro carries a 5-year Pro Series warranty and Lukas a 2-year warranty, both serviced by Stadler Form UAE in Dubai. Stadler Form’s manuals say the warranty covers defects in construction, manufacturing and material, and excludes wearing parts and improper use.
